Gacha Games Week 1: The Starter Hunt, Gym Badges and How the Month Works

Collector Crypt's September Gacha Games start today. June's edition was built around the platform's first billion in volume. This one, per the official guide, "takes what worked, fixes what didn't, and expands the format into a full month." Here is how it works and what week one asks of you.

The rules for the month

  • Weekly windows run Tuesday 00:00 UTC to Monday 23:59:59 UTC. Week one is September 1 to 7.
  • Only rips on Collector Crypt count. Marketplace purchases do not, and neither do rips on partner platforms like Jupiter or Solflare. Cards you sell back through the buyback still count.
  • One rip can count toward multiple challenges at once.
  • Badges are awarded manually, usually within about 24 hours.
  • A Total Points Leaderboard runs all month, with a share of one billion Gacha Points on the line. Distribution details are still to come.
  • Streak badges at 7, 14, 21 and 28 consecutive days of ripping, plus a "10 Packs Per Week" badge each week.
  • One Secret Flash Challenge per week, 24 hours long, announced only on Discord. The guide says these may involve new machines or introduce new collections.

This week's featured challenge: Starter Hunt

Catch ten Pokémon from any starter evolutionary line. Duplicates count, and you can mix generations, so ten Charmanders qualify just as well as a spread across Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Chikorita and the rest. Complete it and you earn the Starter Pokémon badge.

That framing is generous. The Charmander line alone means every Charizard on the platform qualifies, and Charizard is where Collector Crypt's biggest Pokémon pulls tend to land. Blastoise and Venusaur lines qualify too. If you were going to rip Pokémon machines this week anyway, you will likely clear the count without trying.

Gym badges: Wednesday and Friday

Alongside the featured challenge, every Wednesday and Friday brings a Pokémon-type flash challenge. Catch a card of the day's type and you earn the matching Kanto gym badge. The schedule Collector Crypt published runs:

  • Week 1: Rock (Boulder Badge) on Wednesday, Water (Cascade Badge) on Friday.
  • Week 2: Electric (Thunder) and Grass (Rainbow).
  • Week 3: Poison (Soul) and Psychic (Marsh).
  • Week 4: Fire (Volcano) and Ground (Earth).

Collect all eight and you unlock an Elite Four badge at the end of the month.

Where to rip

The standing Pokémon lineup, with Collector Crypt's listed expected values and buyback rates:

| Machine | Price | EV | Buyback | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Elite Pokémon Gacha Pack | $50 | $54.95 | 85% | | Legendary Pokémon Gacha Pack | $250 | $262.39 | 90% | | Hyper Pokémon Gacha | $500 | $525.65 | 90% | | Grail Pokémon Gacha Pack | $1,000 | $1,020.10 | 93% | | Mythic Pokémon Gacha Pack | $2,500 | $2,543.02 | 93% | | Celestial Pokémon Gacha Pack | $5,000 | $5,065.18 | 93% |

For the Starter Hunt, volume matters more than tier. Ten $50 rips clears the count for $500 and keeps you eligible for the 10 Packs Per Week badge in the same go.

What we don't know yet

Collector Crypt has not said what the Total Points Leaderboard pays out per rank, how the secret challenges will be revealed beyond Discord, or whether badges carry any value beyond bragging rights. We will update as the month goes on.
